One of the next big trends in the industry is marketing through community. Everyone talks about the importance of influencers. However, if you really think about it, community managers are really the new social influencers. They hold the keys to the community.
In addition, traditionally people looked at celebrities as the big social influencers. However, in reality it is the smaller social influencers who have the greater impact. When people look at celebrities they see them as someone very far from them. Therefore, if a celebrity recommends a product, it is hard to relate. However, when people look at smaller social influencers, it is much easier to relate to them. As such, if a smaller social influencer recommends a product, they are much more likely to relate and react.

Another big trend in the industry is the move away from banner marketing to personal marketing. In other words, good content marketing is not promotional marketing.
Additionally, the digital and affiliate marketing industry used to use aggressive tactics of getting as much money from a user. However, that era has passed. In fact, many of the companies who used these tactics are long gone. Rather, it is much better to be good and honest with your users. Companies who do this will stay around for a long time.
Lastly, a big trend in the industry is to make sure your content is in the correct form depending on the context. While it is important to have high quality content, if it is not in the correct form, it means nothing. You can’t just look at social media channels as distribution channels. Rather, you need to look at each one separately and understand what kind of content works best on them. A great example of this is Pinterest. On this platform it is very important that you use interesting pictures and infographics in order to engage your audience.
