Why is Amazon so important in today’s world? Where did it come from? What does it do exactly? For many people Amazon is just an online store where you buy stuff. While Amazon is in fact the world’s biggest eCommerce platform, it is so much more than just that.

In 1994, Jeff Bezos created an online bookstore in his home garage in the United States. His idea was that you could get books from the comfort of your home. Today, we have Amazon.com all over the world and you can buy more than just books. In fact, you can almost get anything that you can think of on the platform such as clothes, books, games, home appliances, and so much more.

Even more so, you can get it very quickly. For example, imagine you are an university student in the United States and you need to buy a backpack. Using Amazon, it is possible to receive it the very same day that you order it whether that be from your computer or even your mobile device. Welcome to the American consumption dream!

However, Amazon has grown beyond just being the biggest online shopping mall in the world. It is also the world’s biggest VIP club with its Amazon Prime membership.

In fact, in the United States alone, there are 130 million Prime members. With Prime membership comes a lot of perks. Some of these perks include exclusive access to TV shows and movies, streaming music, online games, fast one day shipping, and even free returns no questions asked within one week of purchase. For the low price of $119 per year or $10.99 for one month, all of this can be yours.

As such, Amazon is not just a great platform for buying and selling, but a great online platform from where you can live your life.
